Taxes (160/365)

After a fashion, all taxes are done. From ALL years outstanding for both me and Hubby. We owe about $1800 all told. But it's done and the details are in the post. Thank goodness that's done!

New Refrigerator (80/365)

Well, the good news is, I found a fridge. Our last fridge was second-hand and it lasted about 7 years or so. This one, I spent considerably less on. It'll do... as long as it's functional, it already has one up on the old fridge!

We spent the better part of the day finding this one, making a few phone calls, seeing it, organizing delivery, cleaning out the old one, relocating food to the basement freezer or little bar fridge, moving the old fridge out (taking off the doors as required by law), bringing in this one, cleaning it out, doing some carpentry work to accommodate it, changing the door to open on the left side and then moving necessary food back into it.

After all that was done, we were all too tuckered out to prepare a meal... though I had been looking forward to Mom's roast. Wow, she cooks a mean roast beef. Yummy! But it was too much. She cooked the roast (it was thawed!) but we ended up ordering pizza. Not the same, but it'll do in a pinch.

At some point during the insanity of the day, we look into the living room, and there's Petite, being good and quiet and amusing herself while the four of us adults were terribly busy. My God. But how could she have been any more angelic? Seriously. She deserved a treat. Daddy took her and Auntie B out for ice cream and brought some back for me and Mom.

*Apologies for the tardiness; my family was visiting and things were rather busy. I took these photos during their visit here, however, I'm only finding time to upload them now... a week late.

Tears (51/365)

Today is 'Family Day' here. I don't have the holiday, so Hubby took the day to care for Petite; her daycare was closed.

So today Petite spent the day with Daddy. The hope was to spend the afternoon in the nearby park, on a sled and enjoying the crisp winter weather, as

He tried his best to get her to go out with him.

This was the result.

Apparently the intended jaunt to the park was replaced by a drive to get an ice cream cone.

"Some days are diamonds," as my mom would say!

The Tax Man Cometh (36/365)

I'm behind. Only by one year, but I'm behind.

In 2009, Petite was born. I was off on maternity leave and I simply never got around to doing my taxes until sometime in 2010. I had to pay in; not a huge amount, but I had to pay in.

That done, I knew I had to file for 2010 as well... and I still haven't done that. I suspect I'll have to pay in for 2010 as well, so I've let it slide a bit. Money's been tight with Hubby finding his footing in a new career.

I just picked up the software for the 2011 tax year. I hoped to file 2010 and 2011 together, with the expectation that what I owed in 2010 will be paid by what I expect to get back in 2011. Alas, Revenue Canada is now on my ass and has delivered a registered letter asking me to file in the next 30 days for 2010. Bugger.

I'd best get a move on. Now where are those T4s for 2011?
(NOTE: Our Internet and phone connection was down for a few days. While I took these photos, I was unable to post. So today, Wednesday February 8, I'm uploading a few posts at the same time. Hope that's okay.)
